Rituals, Movement, and Communication
Thanks to funding from Creative Scotland in 2012, I traveled within Scotland and to California to research and develop techniques for well-being combining ritual, dance and communication processes based on Nonviolent communication. This included an intensive week long workshop in Nonviolence at the Findhorn Foundation run by Dominic Barter (Restorative Circles) and Kit Miller (Director of the Gandhi Institute for Non-violence). I also completed a series of workshops with certified trainer Francois Beausoleil in NVC.
Whilst in the States, I studied with ritualist Luisah Teisch learning various rituals and their structures which allowed me to develop my own. I worked closely with dance artist Taira Restar and learnt about creating movement in nature using rituals and communication. I attended workshops with dance and movement pioneers Annie Halprin (Expressive Movement) and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen (embryology and anatomy).
On 18 October 2012, I led a workshop on Empathy through movement as part of my research at the Kelvingrove Museum as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.
